Electrify Your STEM and Language Arts with Technology
What better way to solidify student thinking than to have them document their observations using technology? This session provides a unique opportunity to have a hands-on experience while diving deep into STEM and Language Arts. Focusing on the S, T and E part of STEM, participants will engage in hands-on activities and use technology to document their scientific observations. After a short introduction to electricity, you will use the Engineering Design Process to create a simple switch. Using Google documents, participants will create a presentation to share their findings. When leaving this session teachers should be able to create an authentic STEM activity and integrate language arts using technology.

Using their own devices, participants will learn how to effectively launch their own 1:1 technology classroom and maintain engaging activities throughout the school year. Participants will experience how one classroom introduced chromebooks and continues to integrate their use in every subject area in a STEM classroom. Multiple examples will be shown, as well as a access to a webpage which contains helpful resources. During the presentation, using your own devices, participants will be able to walk through a launch project to kick off a 1:1 class. This session will be beneficial for students 4th through 12th.

Using Technology to Drive Literacy and Instruction and Reach All Learners
From iPads to cellphones, from laptops to video games, technology is an integral part of our students’ lives. They are immersed in a technical world that has shaped their educational and literacy experiences both in and out of the classroom. For many teachers, technology is a fun addition to a lesson, but takes a backseat to learning objectives; this session will show teachers how to use technology to drive a lesson without losing focus on literacy learning. The promise of technology integrated instruction brings to life key supports of our most struggling students, students with special needs, as well as English Language Learners. So, in this session teachers experience literacy as the opening for accessing and using interactive technology while differentiating instruction and increasing student engagement.

Take it to the Bank
Do you love the efficiency of Canvas Quizzes? Are you ready to take it to the next level?

You’ll think it’s magic when the bank pays you back! Let Canvas question banks work for

you!

This course will show you how to create question banks in Canvas that will allow you to

give each student a different version of your test while still maintaining test-reliability. It

will also allow students to re-take a different version of the test when they are ready to

demonstrate mastery.

Using Canvas Question Banks will help you eliminate some common integrity issues

between students during exams (Houston, 1983), as well as provide a seamless way for you

to re-test for mastery (Decker, 1976) without re-creating the test.
